The MS124 Proximity and Twilight Switch is used to automatically turn on lighting for a specified period of time. It is designed to detect a person entering the stairs or walking down a hallway. The sensor uses a Sharp reflective sensor, ensuring reliable operation. The sensor has adjustable sensitivity (the distance at which it responds), adjustable time for which the lighting remains on (from 5 to 90 seconds), and adjustable light intensity level at which the switch begins to detect motion. The sensor features a powder-coated metal front. Simply insert the sensor into the flush-mounted box, and the metal plates on the sides lock the device into place.

The sensor works by sending an invisible beam towards the detected object. This ray is reflected from an object (e.g. a human leg) and returns to the sensor, which allows it to be detected. No mirrors opposite the sensor are required. Objects are only detected straight ahead (narrow angle). The sensor output is an open collector type. Output is active – low type. This means that the output is pull low to ground when the sensor detects an object. At the same time, the red LED on the front of the sensor will light up. The sensor output must not be shorted to the power supply positive. The sensor is available in white, black and dark graphite versions. The device can work with LED amplifiers.
The product is equipped with spring-loaded metal clips, allowing for easy installation without the need for tools. Simply insert the sensor into the flush-mounted box, and the side clips will lock the device in place. To remove the device, first slide it sideways to press one of the clips, then tilt it as shown in the illustration.
